LIBRARY ASSISTANT I

Sevier County government is accepting applications for the position of a Library Assistant I.  Activities associated with the job include assisting with the coordination of a variety of reading and related learning programs, answering incoming calls and assisting with circulation desk activities and collecting fees for overdue items.  Additional activities include registering library patrons, re-shelving books, ensuring the proper organization of books and other items and participating in special events and programs.  Job responsibilities require experience working in a Public Library setting, good organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills and strong computer skills.

The Sevier County Health Department is accepting applications for the position of Social Counselor II.  Activities associated with the job include interviewing and providing social counseling for clients in programs such as adult protective services, maternal and child health counseling as well as individuals with disabilities, implementing service plans that identify goals for addressing the needs or concerns of clients and coordinating the delivery of services for all identified needs. Job related duties require graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or closely related field; considerable experience assessing the behavioral and psychological needs of individuals of all ages; ability to develop and implement appropriate interventions and service plans to meet existing behavioral and psychological needs and excellent analytical, planning, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Sevier County is accepting applications for the position of Pretrial Officer.  Activities associated with the job include attending General Sessions Court to conduct pretrial violation hearings, ensuring defendants’ compliance with all rules and conditions of bonding conditions, monitoring their payment of probation fees and meeting face-to-face to monitor defendants’ compliance with their conditions of bond including compliance with GPS and alcohol monitoring. The incumbent is also responsible for assisting with the administrative aspects of the probation program.  Job related duties require thorough knowledge of the laws and regulations pertaining to adult defendants placed on bond, strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills, considerable experience working in the correctional system with individuals accused of criminal activity and the ability to accurately monitor the activities of defendants placed on bond prior to trial.

CORRECTIONS OFFICER

Sevier County is accepting applications for the position of Corrections Officer.  Job related duties include assisting with intake activities, monitoring individuals placed in custody, assisting with delivering meals and maintaining records of inmates’ emotional and medical status.  Job related duties require experience working in a correctional and/or juvenile detention facility, good organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills and sufficient strength and agility to perform the physically demanding aspects of the job and respond adequately to situations encountered on the job. Sevier County government is accepting applications for the position of Environmental Specialist I.  Activities associated with the job include the  evaluation of property to determine the suitability for issuing a Permit to Construct a Subsurface Sewage Disposal System, inspecting installed S.S.D.S.’s for Final Approval, evaluating property to determine suitability for Preliminary Subdivision Approval and inspecting existing homes and properties to determine the condition of existing S.S.D.S.’s.   Job related duties require a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science or closely related field, considerable knowledge of federal, state and local regulations governing S.S.D.S.’s, good organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills, sufficient strength and agility to perform the physically demanding aspects of the job and considerable knowledge of soil types and subsurface geologic formations.  Successful completion of a post offer physical and drug screen are required prior to employment.
