Due to ongoing efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are encouraging citizens to avoid coming inside the Public Works Building. In order to safely accommodate our citizens, we are now offering applications for all of our services on this website.
NOTICE
Due to ongoing staffing issues and a continued increase in the septic permit applications the process time for new applications will be 7 weeks (35 business days).
In addition, if any application has incorrect or missing information or should multiple visits be required then the process will take longer.
We appreciate your continues patience thru this time.

Due to a staff shortage, beginning Monday, February 7, 2022, our office will be closed from 11:30-12:30 daily until further notice.
Instructions:
• In order to ensure you apply for the correct service, we suggest calling the office prior to filling out an application.
• Select the appropriate application from the list below.
• Please fill out all fields completely, then print and sign the finished application.
• Make checks payable to: “Sevier County Health Department”
• Applications will need to be submitted via U.S. Mail or left in the drop-box at the rear of our building.
Fees:
Septic Permit - $300
Repair Permit - $75
Inspection Letter - $100
Water Sample - $100
Subdivision Evaluation - $75 per lot + $75 per existing home

Any person who proposes to land dispose of domestic septage from septic tanks or other sewage treatment or disposal facilities must obtain a domestic septage disposal site permit.
What Information Must I Provide?
Applicants must submit the following information:
Division of Environmental Health Application Domestic Septage Disposal Site Permit Form.
The application includes the following information: The owner of the property, address and telephone number, applicant’s name, address of property, number of bedrooms, square feet of home, and water supply.
A high intensity soil map of the proposed disposal area prepared in accordance with Department Rules
A plat with seal and signature of a registered surveyor. If not on file in office
How Will My Application Be Processed?
Completed application forms and application fee should be sent to the Sevier County Environmental Health Dept office. A detailed review of the application is then conducted.
Permits expire 3 years from the issue date. Permits are not renewable and the application process must be restarted. Permits are transferable.
What Are My Rights and Responsibilities After the Permit is Approved?
The applicant has the right to proceed with activities outlined in the approved permit. They must notify the Department of any changes to application information. The applicant is responsible for following all applicable state/county statutes and regulations.. Applicants have the right to appeal a permit that has been denied, suspended or revoked.
What Are the Division’s Rights and Responsibilities After the Permit is Approved?
The Division has the right to inspect proposed sites prior to permitting as well as after a permit has been granted. The Division has the right to revoke, suspend, or deny the issuance of a permit to any applicant who violates the state/county statutes or departmental regulations. Any person who violates or fails to comply with the state/county statutes, rules, or regulations may be subject to civil penalties.
